Signs of poor bridgework or crowns

Dental restorations will not last forever, but they should last for some time.  The American Dental Associations suggests that restorations should last for 8 years.  Often they will last much longer than that.  If you have had dental restorations within  the last two years that have failed, it  may be do to poor dentistry.  There are sign that dental restorations are failing.  If you are getting food caught under the restorations that is a sign that the work is poor.  If the restorations are loose that is another sign that the work is poor.   Generally it will take a dentist a number of attempts to get the correct fit for a restoration, but if you feel that the dentist can not get the fit right you should seek a second opinion.   Ill-fitting restorations can lead to deterioration of the underlying teeth, so it is important that you do not allow the condition to linger.
